Pumpkin, where will be you? Enjoy one of the most beautiful countries in the world!
I've been to Switzerland in December twice. I take 2 pairs of shoes, one of which I wear on the airplane. Most of the time I wear Blundstones (chelsea style boot). They are comfortable and great for most terrain and weather. My other pair are my usual snow boots, which I bought about a decade ago so I'm not going include a link. They are North Face brand, lace up, and go about 2-3 inches above my ankle. I originally bought them for apres ski in resort villages, and I use them here in Vancouver a few times a year when I need to shovel snow or if I want to go for a snowy walk. They were perfect for any snow I encountered in Switzerland.
If you're going to do serious snow hiking or sports, you will need to level up.
Y'all are the best! Thanks so much for all the replies!
I always bring my ‘Yaktrax’ along when hiking in the winter, or even just walking around in the mountain villages. Extremely useful for any time you come across patches of ice. Very lightweight and easy to throw in your pack just in case you need them. I have slipped on the ice more than once before I had them...not fun and it could certainly put a damper in the rest of your vacation.
I took well broken in hiking boots (trainer style) for hiking and a waterproof low bootie for city time. Both were Merrell brand, coincidentally, but go with what works for your feet.
