My husband and I have three days in Bellaggio and I would like to take a day trip into Switzerland. Any suggestions for the easiest/quickest way to visit a town in Switzerland?
This is my first trip to Europe so lots of details would help.

You could take the mid-lake shuttle to Menaggio and get a bus to Lugano from there.

Here is bus schedule. Not sure how current it is. Fer 6 means Mon-Sat, F means Sun & holidays, blank means every day. Use the bottom schedule. "Estivo" means Summer.

In 2016 I did what Sam has described. I went to Lugano for the day.
I would take the ferry to Varenna and train from there to Tirano to ride the Bernina Pass route as far as Pontresina. This will take you right through the Alps on a very scenic route. Have a late lunch in Pontresina (or ride a lift up to a mountain inn above town for lunch) then return.
We couldn’t tear ourselves away Bellagio until our fourth trip trip there when we went to Lake Lugano for lunch.
