We would like to spend a day (starting from the train station in Montreux) visiting Gruyeres and also get to the chocolate factory in Broc as part of the same outing . What would be the wisest way to structure that day knowing we would like to have time to walk around Gruyeres, see the cheese making, have a nice relaxing lunch, and also visit the factory in Broc before heading back to Montreux for the evening. What should we do first? How early should be plan to be at each location?
Thanks very much for any shared expertise on planning this.
Have you looked at the chocolate train option?

We did this last August. We took the train from Montreux to Maison Cailler. There were two changes but small towns with one platform. We did the chocolate making class (grandkids loved making their own chocolate bar) and then the tour. We then took the bus back to Gruyère, had lunch, walked around town and castle then took the bus back to the train station and the train back to Montreux. We didn’t have time to do the cheese making tour. Transportation sounds complicated but it was actually very easy. Oh, and we started out at 7:00 am. It takes awhile to get there. Long day but a lot of fun.
