Best way to get from Zermatt to Bolzano

My husband and I are honeymooning in late September, early October between Switzerland and the Dolomites in Italy. We're planning on booking Swiss Travel passes, as we'll be in Switzerland for the majority of the time, but the trains into Italy are a bit confusing. We are wanting to go from Zermatt to Bolzano - what would be the best way to book these tickets? Are there specific routes that are better than others?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Your quickest, easiest route is Zermatt to Visp(or Brig) to Milan to Verona to Bolzano. Should take 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 hours.
You can buy the Italian portion at https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html using Brig as the start point.
If you can get an early start, there is a 6:13 am train from Zermatt to Brig, connecting to an EC train direct to Verona Porta Nuova, then connecting to a Regionale Veloce train to Bolzano, getting you there by 1:30 pm

The train from Zermatt stops in the street outside Brig station, like it was a street car. Get off and go inside the main station for trains to Italy.
