We are flying into Geneva in August 2023 (on a weekday if that makes a difference), but staying in Montreaux for 3 nights. Is there a train or ferry directly from the Geneva AIRPORT to Montreaux? or do we have to somehow get to a train station in town or ferry dock to start our trip?

Several direct trains per hour from the airport to Montreux. It takes just over an hour. Look for one heading to Brig as the end destination so you don’t have to change trains.

In the timetable type in Genève-Aéroport to Montreux.
Choose date and departure time.
Once you search you will see, as Sasha said, that there is a train heading to Brig in which you will not need to change, it will stop in Montreux.
If it is leaving at a time that is convenient for you, then that’s great, otherwise I would just take the next available train. Changing trains is not a big deal and for me personally it beats hanging around half an hour or so waiting for a direct train.

Thanks for the prompt replies. Great to know that we can get there directly from the airport. Thanks for the link and how to look for a train. We live in FL and there isn't much train travel done here, so it is a new skill that I will have to sharpen when we get to Switzerland.
