We will be flying into Geneva and traveling to Murren where we will spend three nights before taking the train to Basel. We will be using lifts while in Murren and will also be going to Schilthorn and/or Jungfraujoch. Would the Half Fare card give us the best value for traveling while we are there?

If you are going up the Jungfrau the HFC will give you the maximum discount there (50%) and almost pay for itself. So yes, that is probably the best choice.

Adding a Berner Oberland Regional Pass is also a good idea. The HFC gives you a discount on the pass as well as on your trips from Geneva and to Basel. The BO Regional Pass covers anlmost all trains, lifts, buses, and boats in the Berner Oberland with the notable exceptions for the high-peak experiences of the Schilthorn and Jungfraujoch.

Also, if you are not in a huge hurry to get to Muerren, you can take the scenic Golden Pass train from Montreux to Interlaken Ost. With the Half Fare Card and BOP, it will save a bit as with the BOP, you are covered from Saanen.
