Best Travel Pass when traveling with young teens to Berner Oberland

I’m traveling to Switzerland with my 15 year old and 11 year old. Fly in to Zurich June 17. 2 nights in Mürren, 2 nights in Wengen, then fly out of Zurich.

Which rail pass makes sense In this case? I’ve been thinking the Swiss travel flex pass and free family card. With it, I understand I will be paying discounted fares above Wengen and Mürren. Will my kids travel for free on these legs to destinations above where we are staying? Or will I be paying the full rate or discounted rate for them?

If I am accessing discounted rates with my pass, does it count as one of my days of use of the flex pass?

Will I likely need to use my pass every day if we are staying in the region doing hikes and local excursions and adventures?

Wondering if it makes sense to buy 3 or 4 flex days for my 5 days in Switzerland, or if I need 6.

Should I book rental bikes and excursions (like paragliding and mount peak visits) in advance? Or can I be spontaneous based on weather and still find availability?

With the free Family Card with the Swiss Travel Pass, they travel free with you everywhere you go.

Yes, it counts as a pass use day.

You are the best judge of how much you'll use transportation, so it's hard for someone to choose a pass for you. Nonetheless, I'd recommend the Berner Oberland Pass, which covers basically everything from Bern on south. When I went with my teens, we used trains and cable cars every day. If you want to see all the possible places, click on my name where you'll find a link to the trails and activities.

I personally wouldn't pay in advance because the weather will determine what you will do.
