We are travelling to Switzerland in early June and staying in Lucerne (3 nights), then going to the Lauterbrunnen/Murren/Wengen area (haven't picked which town yet) for 4 nights. Our last 3 nights are in Zurich (more than necessary? Should we stay in the Alps for 5 nights?) I was thinking of getting the Half Fare Card and the Berner Oberland Pass to cover all the travel, including getting around Zurich when we're there. Does this make sense? Thank you very much for your feedback, I know this is a bit of an overlap with other topics but I don't see Zurich mentioned as a destination very often.

Yes, 5 nights in the Alps. Zurich does not get mentioned very often because, while it is a very nice city (a very very nice city), Europe is full of very nice cities that are not nearly as expensive. Travel to Switzerland is all about the Alps, and a day in Zurich is a day you are not in the Alps.
PS, your Half Fare Card idea is a good one.

We stayed a week in Wengen during September of 2023. The BO Pass was great to have! We’d hop on the gondola in town and go up to Mannlichen for coffee and dessert. And walking around. Often :)
