Best Time To Tour Switzerland

We're thinking of a coach tour traveling the entire Country; which Fall month is the best time to just take in the views? Most of September 2022 is already booked so it would have to be end of August or end of September or first week of October 2022???

Thank you,

Jean

Of those options, end August is probably the safest for good weather but it is also more crowded.

By the way, Switzerland has excellent, easy-to-use transportation and mountain views do not require a lot of guiding: this is an excellent country to try to visit on your own.
But of course, if the tour price, route and pace suit you, then go for it.

We went the first week in October and had a great time, awesome weather but I would go in September to make sure i miss any early snows in the Swiss mountains.

Just returned and we had good weather. It was actually warm in the cities, mid-70's and hotter, and I had no summer clothes. In Zurich, the young folks were sunbathing and swimming in the river, little north of the old town.
We only had two days of clouds and rain, in Murren, which can be expected in the Alps, where we wore our packable down jackets.

A few years back, I was there the end of Sept/beginning of Oct., and in some of the mountain areas it was shoulder season, [between ski season and summer sports] and some of the small shops and restaurants were closed.

I agree, I think you could have a wonderful trip in this beautiful country on your own, without a tour. There is a lot of English spoken, and the train system is friendly and efficient.

In any case, you'll have a memorable trip!
