We’ll be traveling to Switzerland for the first time landing in Zurich. Then we head straight to Luzern for 2 days. What are must see and do for an short itinerary please?

Where else will you be going in Switzerland? If you will be otherwise seeing mountains, then I would spend my one full day in Luzern. (If you mean 2 nights, which is one day)
If you will not be visiting mountains next, then I'd do one of the day trips like Mt Pilatus, and enjoy Luzern in morning and evening.
