Husband and I will hope to travel to Switzerland March 24-26. We want a relaxing stay after Paris and before we move on to Munich. We've discussed Luzern quite a bit , But we would also don't want to miss out on experiencing some of the mountains. We're not skiers, though we are moderate hikers, and we're planning to Airbnb and not stay at a resort. What recommendations are out there for this quick trip?
If time is limited and you want to take in the Alps, the Austrian Alps are a short distance south of Munich and easily reached by train. I find them logistically easier to travel in and also less expensive.
If you want a look at Switzerland, Lucerne would be an excellent choice as it's a beautiful city and offers a choice of activities. If the weather is rainy, you could tour the extensive Museum of Transport. If the weather is good, you could travel to Mount Pilatus for some incredible views. It would be a good idea to check the schedules, as the lifts to Pilatus may not be operating as frequently at that time of year.
