Best Places to visit by car

I will be staying outside of Lausanne from end of September through end of January. I will be relying on public transportation for the majority of my time there. However, I will have a car for the first week (Sept 25 - Oct 2). Can I get some suggestions of where to go in either France, Italy or Germany that are best traveled to by car?

Also, is better to post this in forums for each individual country?

Thanks!!!

One of my favorite destinations to visit where a car is actually useful is the area around the castle of neuschwanstein. Horn is the little village at the lake with a spectacular view of the castles, especially night time views. Lots of wide open pastures with cows and bike paths and wonderful family hotels and restaurants.

Are you talking about taking day trips from Lausanne area to places in other countries? Don't underestimate the driving time, especially if you're wanting to take scenic routes.

Chamonix and Mont Blanc. On the opposite side of Lake Geneva to Lausanne and then a bit more. Not easy to get to by train from Lausanne, but easier by car.

https://www.viamichelin.com/ says 01h43, 112 km going around the east end of the lake, or 01h42, 144 km going around the west end past Geneva (more autoroute this way). So it makes a good circular day trip.

Tim, thanks the castle is on my list!

Stan, yes I am thinking day trips.

Chris, thank you. I have been to Chamonix. It was beautiful! Might have to try Mont Blanc.

Like I said, figured I would take advantage of having a car for a week and get to the places that are more accessible by car then bus or train. I was thinking maybe Annecy or Aix-les-Baines.
