Best place to have a good lunch with a beautiful view on this day (below)

We will be going from Wengen to Schilthorn (before going down to Stechelberg to walk the Valley back to Lauterbrunned. Lunch on this day could work at Murren, Birg, or Schilthrn because we could easily be at any of the 3 at lunchtime, although I am a little wary of the Restaurant Piz Gloria at Schilthorn as it seems as much a tourist attraction as a restaurant and we like to keep it simple. Are there any great choices for a good, relaxing lunch in Birg or Murren wiht nice views you would recommend? Thanks much!

a very short walk from the Gimmelwald cable car station is the Youth Hostel. Around back they have a wooden deck with fab views. Sit at one of the tables there and order Raclette (with tiny potatoes and a gherkin of course). Beverage of choice. Canna beat it

I actually liked the restaurant at the Schilthorn just fine (surprised me, too--I am a proud food snob!); it was not more expensive than anywhere else, and of course the views were a given. Hubs had a salmon salad and I had rosti with vegetables. But if it's a zoo, I'd plan on eating in Murren, which has plenty of appealing places.

To those in the know--is the construction at Birg complete? It was a mess when we were there.

Always share dates to confirm transport--closings are expected this summer: https://schilthorn.ch/

I’m another one who is a big fan of the Restaurant Piz Gloria at Schilthorn. I had the breakfast buffet though. But, I’m sure lunch is just as good. Great views!!

The food up at Schilthorn & Birg is just tourist quick food, nothing special. If you want to do Piz Gloria, go in the afternoon when you can just get a drink to enjoy the experience. For lunch in Murren - Stagerstubli, Alti Metzg Hotel Eiger, or Hotel Alpenblick have the best food. In Gimmelwald you can get lunch at the Pension (burgers, etc.) or the Hostel (wood fired pizza).

Get a picnic together at one of the Coops, find a waterfall and enjoy.

We were there last week. There is construction at Birg, Piz Gloria and Murren. However it doesn’t greatly impact getting to spots to view.

I’ll second going to the Co Op to get a picnic lunch. Besides normal sandwiches, they even have salads, hot chicken and calzones. Plenty of scenic places in Murren for your picnic lunch.

Agree with earlier posts. Stop at Coop and get picnic lunch. Then stop at Rick's favorite picnic bench between Murren and Gimmelwald for a memorable lunch. Beautiful views at every turn.
