best place to check for matterhorn visibility?

i'd like to go to zermatt one day this week but only if i can see the matterhorn. Is there a recommended place to check?

i know there's a live cam (https://www.zermatt.ch/en/Webcams) but that only says what it looks like at this very moment, whereas I need what the visibility will be like for the upcoming day so i can plan the trip. SO I do not know if that's the recommended way.

Of course, I also know i could use weather.com and type in Zermatt.

What do you think is the best site to check the night before if a trip is worth it?

Where are you? At the hotel we’ve been to in Montreux they knew. Are you in a hotel? Ask the front desk.

I would check a Swiss weather site such as Meteoswiss the night before and the webcam in the morning. I think this will give you the most accurate information, knowing that it is never certain as the weather can often change quickly.

Go to Zermatt and do the hike up to Hornlihutte and you'll get to see the Matterhorn up close and personal.
I have seen the Matterhorn come and go from view a dozen times in an hour so really there is no certainty as to viewing it from Zermatt.

is the hornlihutte the hike you recommend doing? If i go, i'll be doing a day trip from murren so i wont have time to do too much. How would you recommend spending the day? (if it happens, right now it seems like it's going to rain this weekend

You probably wouldn't be able to do the Hornli hike during a daytrip from Murren. Hornlihutte is half way up the Matterhorn.
If it could be worked into your schedule (and within your budget) the Gornergrat train is brilliant on a clear day. The best alpine views inc the Matterhorn from the station.
