Arrive Zurich Aug 13. Wengen 6 nights. Hike, visit waterfalls, lake tour, possible day trip to Bern. Undecided on Jungfraujoch. Three nights in Lucerne. One mountain visit, probably Pilatus. Final day in Zurich with final night at hotel at airport. Best I figure we should go with the HFC card plus the 8 day BO pass. Is this best? Should I get the HFC first? Will having a BO pass save me time waiting in lines in the Jungrau?
You do not need to buy the HFC first to get the discount on the BO Pass, but you do need to buy it before you take the first train.
The BO Pass will not save you from waiting in line at Kleine Scheidegg for the Jungfrau train, because it does not fully cover the Jungfrau train. You need to buy a ticket, but can avoid the line for that by buying your ticket in advance on the SBB.ch website, or with the app. You can use the HFC discount to do this, and get a Return ticket for 69 CHF. Your BO P{ass will cover your journey from Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg.
Consider including the walk between Kleine Scheidegg and Mannlichen to use the cablecar down to Wengen at the end of your journey (or heading up if you are not in a hurry to get to the Jungfrau.)
Thank you Lola.
We have found that HFC and the Jungfrau travel pass is a great combination if you are using Wengen as a base. The HFC gives you a discount on the Jungfrau travel pass
