Our RS tour ends in Bern July 4. Would like to take a train from Bern to Murren and stay there for 2 nights and do some moderate gondola hikes. Then take train to Zurich and fly home. Is this doable without a car? Is there a better town to stay rather than Murren for a relaxing, enjoy the view, hike a bit stay? Thanks!!!
Very, very easy to do. Check https://www.sbb.ch/en the Swiss rail site for information on trains.
Bern to Murren takes about 2 hours. Murren to Zurich takes about 3 hours.
Yes, very easy to do by train.
I chose to stay in Wengen for 3 days since the tour had stayed in Mürren.
Wengen is slightly easier to reach than Murren for a short stay.
This is completely doable and the views along the way are lovely. Murren is a great town if you want to do the Schilthorn easily, but don't overlook Wengen that gives you easier access to Kleine Scheidegg, Jungfraujoch and the beautiful Panoramic Trail above Wengen. Enjoy your trip!
Thanks for your help! Much appreciated!!
