Best of Germany, Austria & Switzerland tour question

Question for the Lauterbrunnen valley portion of our tour coming up soon: Since we're really only going to have about 1 1/2 days of "free" time, with no guide, is it worth buying any sort of a pass ahead of time for the various cable cars, lifts, gondola, funicular etc.? My husband and I are looking forward to doing some hikes so to save time will be going up and down on various modes of transportation. I know there are various passes that we could buy, but assume it would not be cost effective for the short time we'll be there? Thanks in advance! Cherry

I'd wait until you have a weather forecast, most likely the day before. Enjoy this beautiful country. Safe travels.

You will probably need to do a bit of research, finding the hikes you are most interested in and then looking at what transportation (if any) you will need from Mürren to reach these hikes.

Are you looking for something simple, such as the walk from Grütschalp to Mürren? Then all you need is the 4.40 CHF ticket to Grütschalp.

Perhaps you want to go to Wengen and do some of the walks there:
Mürren - Wengen about 20 CHF, 40 return.

Or go up to Männlichen:
Wengen - Männlichen 58.00 return.

Walk the easy Panorama hike:
Wengen - Männlichen, hike to Kleine Scheidegg, train back to Wengen 60.00.

Do you want to hike the slightly more difficult North Face Trail? If you do the full circular route, then there is no cost. You can opt to take the Allmendhubel funicular either up or down, depending on the direction you choose to hike, at a cost of 8.80.

Some options for discounts:

These prices will be 1/2 off with the Half Fare Card (cost of the card is 120.00).

The Berner Oberland pass is 240.00 for three days. Using it only two days = 120.00/day.
