I am a bit baffled by all of the choices for lifts, so I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. we will be visiting Mürren for 3 nights June 19-22. We will be arriving via rental car which we will be parking in Lauterbrunnen. We the two adults and have two 13 year old daughters. We need to get to to Murren and back, as well as take a couple of other lifts (as weather permits!) to do some hikes and see Gimmelwald. We are also considering renting bikes one day and use a lift to return to Mürren. Any idea which pass may be the best option, if any? Thanks so much in advance.
Are you planning on a trip to the Jungfrau?
No - maaaaaaybe the Schilthorn, but probably not. I think the lifts would be more to explore the immediate area around Lauterbrunnen/Murren/Gimmelwald. We will be on a seven week trip through Europe and need to keep it real :-)
If you're not doing the Jungfrau and only staying in Murren/Lauterbrunnen/Wengen area then you probably don't need a pass. IF you were doing the Jungfrau then the no-brainer solution would have been a Half Fare Card and then you could have gotten the free Swiss Family Card for your 2 kids and they would go everywhere all over Switzerland with you for 100% free.
Just buy your lift tickets as you go. Purchase a Junior Travel Card for approx 30chf for each of your children, and then they will travel with you everywhere throughout Switzerland 100% free...even to the expensive Jungfrau and Schilthorn.
Thank you so much, Tim - very helpful!
