We are traveling as a family from Wengen to Lucerne in June. We would like to stay on the lake and boat/bike, etc. day trips to Pilatus and Old Town. We also want to go to Brunnen to the Swiss Army Museum. Can you recommend a nice hotel on the water?
I think it will potential responders a lot if you give us a nightly budget per room and tell us how many people will be sleeping in each room. [Edited for clarity >>] Are you looking for a quad room or two doubles?
Switzerland is extremely expensive. When you start talking hotels right on Lake Lucerne, my guess is that the sky's the limit. I'm sure there are lovely places in the CHF 800/night price range, but that wouldn't be helpful to me. But perhaps you're shopping at the upper end of the hotel continuum.
Looking on Google satellite view for hotels right on the lake, I found Grand Hotel National, Palace Luzern, and. Pension Villa Marie. The Backpackers Hostel is close to the lake but not on it, and may not even have a view.
Some of the hotels in the Old Town area are right on the river, such as Hotel des Balances and Hotel des Alpes. The Radisson Blu next to the train station overlooks the lake but it is right on a busy road.
You will need two rooms for four adults. I checked the Grand Hotel National and double rooms start at 342 CHF in summer ( for a room without a lake view), but there are not many dates available.
