Best airport to smoothly get to Berner Oberland?

I’m planning a fall trip to Switzerland and thought we would fly into Zürich and then take the train to get to Mürren. But I’m wondering if that’s the best route? Flying from Michigan, so would have to have a stopover in either Amsterdam or Paris to get to Zürich. I considered Geneva, but that’s a little bit farther from
our final destination. Maybe it makes sense to get rid of some jet lag before going up into the mountains? A couple days along Lake Geneva would be nice…

We’ve never flown through the Geneva airport, but we have left Switzerland via Zürich. Just trying to think about any other possibilities that might also make sense. We will be flying home from Frankfurt so this will be a multi city trip.

I hope we can use the Swiss half fare pass along with the BO pass for our time in Switzerland.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Not much difference in time getting to Murren from Zurich or Geneva. If Michigan to Geneva is direct for you then I would do Geneva. I would recover from jet lag in the mountains instead of Zurich or Geneva, but that is just my preference.

Geneva is a nice airport. If you decide to fly in there, hop on a train and go to a lakeside town for the overnight—-we stayed in the small town of Morges, but Montreux would be nice as well. Or Vevey. If your plane arrives in the morning you would have the afternoon to be outdoors, walking on the lakeside promenade path. Which is a good antidote to jet lag.

Your Berner Oberland Pass will fully cover the train on the Golden Pass route from Saanen the rest of the way. Your Half Fare Card will cover from Montreux or other town to Saanen.

You can see the coverage on this map:

If you choose to fly into Zurich, the BO Pass coverage begins at Bern or Luzern.
