In June, we will have 4 nights to spend in Switzerland. I've considered Bern, Luzern and Laussane as we want R&R and beautiful scenery not necessarily big city activities during this portion of our trip. Any experienced Switzerland travelers who would have a suggestion or two on how to spend these 4 nights and where to stay--both location and hotel suggestions. Appreciate any advice.
Where are you coming from and going to? Via train, car or air? That will help. Basic Swiss advice is don’t spend time in the cities when the Alps are within your grasp. Also what do you want to do?
Good questions—we are training from London to Switzerland and will train to Paris after visiting Switzerland.
We are looking for rest and relaxation with great scenery (Alps and lakes), quaint towns and some light day hiking possibilities.
We can change hotels if needed for the best experience.
Thanks!!
Get up to the Alps. Go to the Bernese Oberland. Wengen, Murren, Lauterbrunnen area. We have done the train trip back to Paris from here, easy. Everything on your list. June will give you long days and fairly consistent weather. Look at posts here and trip reports. A number of us have been back there as recently as last summer/fall. Check out RS guide book, Trip Advisor. If you need more help come back to us and we can all help.
The Bernese Oberland is indeed your best bet.
If, for some reason, it does not appeal, my second choice is Luzern.
The Berner Oberland!
