Wondering if anyone can provide a little guidance, please? We’re traveling to France & Switzerland (Paris, Strasbourg, Lucerne) late March/early April. I’ve always wanted to take the Bernina express route as I enjoy scenic train rides, but it will require travel just for that. As in it would be easier and less costly for us to fly out of Basel than Milan (we’ve spent time in Milan, so would go into Italy just to the airport). I wonder if it is worth it in the second week of April or if we are missing the best of the scenery - too early for spring, too late for best snow scenery? Maybe we’d be better off spending our last several days in Basel or nearby. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
it will still be very beautiful ride.
I'm confused about the Basel flight you're speaking of. It isn't a big airport and I'm not sure if it goes transatlantically.
It isn't possible you meant Zurich?
Have you checked if the flight you want does Basel?
Thanks Nigel, that’s good to know!
We don’t have many direct flights to Europe from PDX (and prefer not to connect in the US) so we fly to AMS, then home. We can go out of Zurich, Basel or Milan on a Delta partner.
