Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm a little confused. I plan to follow Rick's advice and take the Bernina Express from Lugano to Pontresina. Stopping in Pontresina for 3 nights, then I would like to take the Glacier Express to Zermatt. I understand I need to make Bernina Express reservations on the bus from Lugano and then on the train to Pontresina. What I am confused about is the next step... the Glacier Express reservation. Do I reserve the Glacier Express from St. Moritz to Zermatt or from Chur to Zermatt? If the latter, do I make another Bernina Express reservation from Pontresina to Chur?
Pontresina is practically St Moritz. There are short train rides between the 2 and frequent buses as well. Make the reservation from St Moritz to Zermatt for the Glacier Express, and go to St Moritz by either bus or train beforehand.
Thanks. I just discovered that Samedan is even quicker to get to and the connection is better.
If you are staying overnight, I can highly recommend Laager Hotel Garni in Samedan.
It is just four rooms above the bakery ( with wonderful aromas in the early morning, and a great breakfast). Access is up a spiral staircase so not good if someone has mobility issues.
