Bernese Oberland Pass: Need 1st class BOP if you have a 1st class seat on Golden Pass Panorama?

You can purchase an upgrade ticket if you have a 2nd class pass, which you will need to do in order to occupy your 1st class reserved seats. With a Half Fare Card, I believe the upgrade ticket will also be 50% off.

Thanks Sam! Do you mean an upgrade of my golden pass ticket? When or where do I get that? Do you know how much it costs? The BOP 1st class pass is $64 more than 2nd class so i hope it is much less than that lol!

Not sure what you mean by Golden Pass Ticket. My understanding from your post is that you purchased a seat reservation in 1st class, but intended to use a Berner Oberland Pass as your ticket. A normal 2nd class ticket (without a seat reservation) is 56 CHF from Montreux to Interlaken Ost, and a 1st class ticket is 96 CHF. So a 1st class ticket is 40 CHF more than a 2nd class ticket, therefore that would be the cost of an upgrade. With a Half Fare Card, it should be half that, 20 CHF.

If you're saying it's a 64 chf difference between 1st and 2nd class BO Pass, that tells me you're getting a 10 day BO pass. If you're already going to have to upgrade to a 1st class ticket for the GPE, then I'd just do the 1st class BO Pass, I think over the course of 10 days it would be worthwhile to me spend 44 extra chf to ride the 1st class trains. Everything is so crowded these days that the 1st class sections become a breath of fresh air amidst the chaos. Not everything has first class options, but over the course of 10 days I'd assume you'll do enough to make it worth such a small amount in the grand scheme of what you're paying.
