Bernese Oberland in late November

Hello all,

I will be renting a car from Zürich on Nov. 26 and will head to Interlaken to base myself there for 2 nights.

Given the fact that it is dead season during that time, where do you recommend me drive to shoot scenic landscape images (given the fact that I am a landscape photographer)?

Moreover, I would like to go to Bachalpsee. However, is it possible to drive by car from Grindelwald to First and from there hike to the lake?

Many thanks!

That hike will be impassible in late November. Too much snow at such an altitude. Also, Grindelwald is the end of the line for drivable roads. You would need to ride the ski lift up to First, but it doesn't run in November.

November also tends to be cloudy and overcast in the Alps, so as a landscape photographer, you will be severely at the mercy of the always fickle Alpine weather gods.

Thank you very much for your response.

Any other places you recommend for some lake shots which are accessible by car?

Brienzerzee and Thunersee are very easily accessible. The roads to Interlaken and the Lauterbrunnen valley run right along both lakes. The scenery around Wallensee is also quite nice, and once again, the road skirts right along the shore. Anything actually up in the mountains, though, puts you at the whim of the elements, which don't tend to be favorable in November.
