Hello again, I am considering cutting out Appenzell from our 8 day trip from Geneva and instead connecting Lausanne, Luzern, the Berner-Oberland and possibly Zermatt then back to Geneva. We aren't planning to rent a car, and am wondering what the best/easiest connections via public transport are to the Berner-Oberland. Thank you!
I'd suggest downloading the SBB train app and plugging in your destinations. The Swiss train system is so efficient and easy to use that a car is unnecessary. Many of the areas in the BO are pedestrian only, so you'd be paying hefty parking charges. Have you checked into the 25% off discount for Swiss train passes[fully refundable]? You'd need to purchase the passes asap, not sure when the sale expires.
Have a safe trip!
Completely agree! That app is great….it even tells you where to stand on the platform!
Thank you! Looks like the Swiss Travel Pass is on sale for 25% off through 12/11/21
