Lauterbrunnen is a valley surrounded by towering alps all around. While Lauterbrunnen is indeed beautiful I would recommend just transiting through Lauterbrunnen and go up high in the alps to the village of either Murren or Wengen. These are alpine villages without cars - pedestrian traffic only and accessible by train and gondola. If you've never stayed in the alps then give MUCH consideration to staying there.

We have visited the area before (45 years ago!). We are booked on the RS BOE 14 days tour Oct 2019 and I was curious which town we would be staying in.

If you're talking about the town Rick visits in his video, that's Gimmelwald -- the apartment at the top of Ollie's house.
