Berner Oberland Pass?

Hello all,

I will be in the Lauterbrunnen area for about 6 days. It appears purchasing a BO pass will be my best option, with the costs for my expected excursions, trips, and attractions coming in at almost the same cost as the first class pass. Does it make sense to buy one if it’s a wash at the end of the day? If I do purchase it, is this the site to buy from:

Thank you

First class is only relevant outside the mountains - boat rides on Lake Brienz & Thun or trips to places like Bern, Thun, Meiringen, Montreux, Luzern, etc. There is no first class on cable cars & mountain trains, so only get it if you plan to ride a boat + do atleast 1 day trip where you’d prefer sitting in first class.

Yes, you have the website correct.

Even if the cost is a wash with walk-up fares, the pass is worthwhile for impromptu excursions, random buses you didn’t know you were going to needs, and so on. You might decide on a whim to ride up to a scenic place just for lunch or to grab a drink on a nice afternoon. Are you also getting a Half Fare Card? That provides for ann additional discount on the BO Pass.

I just bought mine today for my upcoming trip.

Be sure to take note of the routes that are not fully covered, like the train from kleine scheidegg to wengen.

The BO Pass is ideal for travel in the covered area on a whim, since you can just decide you want to ride the boat across Thunersee because you want to. :) Check whether the rail, funicular, or cable car is covered, since some (as others have mentioned) are only discounted rather than 100% included. Enjoy your trip - the Berner Oberland is my favorite part of Switzerland!

Just wanted to mention that the RS Switzerland book has a different website for the BO pass but that link didn't work for me.

The link posted is the official site for the pass. Any other websites would be third party re-sellers.
