We were thinking of going to Colmar after a best of Switzerland Tour. Tell me about the train connections from Bern.
After Colmar we are going home-- thinking about the TGV tirp to Paris CDG to get to a major airport.
Thoughts?

Train in Bern to Basel. Change to a French train to Colmar. Easy.
You may get a TGV in Colmar on the way to CDG but more likely in Strasbourg. Easy train from Colmar to Strasbourg.

You can check the schedule and fare on the SBB website. Enter accurate birth dates to be sure you get the right fare; there may be senior discounts, for example.
At the moment trains are running hourly at 4 minutes after the hour. There's a change of trains in Basel, and the entire trip takes 2 hours. Edited to add: I'm sorry; I gave the travel time to the city of Paris, not to CDG.

The fastest connection to CDG from Colmar is 3 hour 47 minutes. Zurich airport is just 2 hours and 19 minutes, in case you were interested. Frankfurt airport is 3 hours.

If you're going to train it to Paris you may want to research taking the train to Gare de l'Est, then walk a couple of blocks to Gare du Nord for the short train ride to CDG. Last December we were scheduled to take this route because it was significantly cheaper and not much more time; however, the transportation strike caused us to have to cancel (we drove instead).
