This is the first trip to Switzerland for my husband and I and we will be visiting a few places near Lake Geneva (Chillon, Chaminoix, Annecy) and then from Lausanne up to The Swiss Alps (Gimmelwald and Interlaken) )via the Golden Pass.....we are trying to decide if we should include two nights/days in BERN and 2 days/nights in Zurich before flying home to California. We have time and a flexible schedule so the question is more like how much is there to see and do in Bern and Zurich. We like the basic must see sights (for first timer) and prefer a very leisure pace. We favor scenic destinations and good food ( we're not wine drinkers.) and don't need athletic activities. I have HILTL restaurant on my list for Zurich. Would it help to find a local guide to take us around town to maximize our time and travel more efficiently?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Bern over Zürich any day. Bern is worth a day, and is a very pretty city, but the Alps are beckoning. Zürich is not worth that.
After the Berner Oberland (Gimmelwald and Interlaken), do one last day in Bern and then go direct from there to Zürich airport for your flight home.
P.S., and what is HITL?
