Bellinzona-Liechenstein-Appenzell via car: recommendations

We are two couples on a driving trip in early June. We will depart the Ticino region and head north easterly for the last 4 days of our trip. (We like to sightsee, hike, rent bikes and walk around villages and find good food and drink).

How to budget our time?

The guide book made Appenzell seem very appealing; so we are thinking 2 days there.

Have been looking at Arosa or Klosters as a stopping point on the way to Vaduz?

Thinking, perhaps 1/2 day in Liechenstein?

Where would you recommend to stay in Appenzell? Things to see/do?

Thank you for your input!

In Appenzell: guesthouse Eggil, wonderful patio with a view for a late afternoon/dinner. Appenzell area is worth more than two nights, beautiful green hills, and tons hiking trails. J

I would not recommend Arosa, the drive up there is very tiresome and the resort itself is largely modern buildings. Klosters is prettier (I was lucky enough to go there one winter) but not sure it is worth it either, there is not that much to see and do there.

From Ticino, Viamala would be my choice of stop (narrow gorge of the Rhine river, with stairways and bridges).

As for Liechtenstein: never been, so I cannot say!

Half an hour instead of half a day is more than enough for me, maybe twice as long as required. I got a coffee at the McDonalds.

Agree about Liechenstein. One of our tour party is trying to reach the century mark of 100 countries visited. I am open-minded. All travelers in the group have some 'must-sees'. :-)
