Basel to Interlaken

In September, I'm going from Barcelona to Interlaken and was wondering the best way to get there? It looks like flying into Basel or Zurich then taking a train is the best way to get to Interlaken. Is there something better or closer city? Just want to make sure I know all possible options. Id prefer not to take a train but not opposed to it. IF i do fly into Basel or Zurich, on average how much would it cost for a train and how long would it take to get to Interlaken?

Appreciate any help!

Nothing really closer. Geneva airport is slightly further away for the same train fare as Zurich.
Fare from Basel is 62.20 chf, but it requires a 17 minute bus ride from the airport to Basel station, then a 2 hour train to Interlaken Ost. From Zurich airport the fare is 73 chf, but the train station is right at the airport and you need to change trains at Bern. That takes 2 hours 15 minutes. Geneva airport is 73 chf and takes 2 hours 50 minutes with a change at Bern.
There is a cheaper fare from Zurich airport that is shorter as the crow flies, but longer time wise. It runs every 2 hours and goes via Luzern, takes 3 hours and 8 minutes, but costs 53 chf. It goes over the Bruennig Pass. The other trains from Zurich airport go about every half hour.

Thanks Sam! Do you happen to have an idea of the cost for a train from Geneva and the time frame it'll take to get to Interlaken? Is it direct?

Yes, they are about every half hour and take 2 hours 50 minutes and require at least one change at Bern. 73 chf.
