I am thinking of a day trip from Kehl or Gengenbach to Basel. Is the old towne a comfortable walk and is it worth the effort? What would you tell me to see???

Basel is a very pretty town on the Rhine. The town hall (rathuis) is unique and quite beautiful. It is on a market square. The munster is interesting and behind it, a beautiful view of the Rhine. I got walking tour information mailed to me by the TI. I found the city fun and very colorful.

I have traveled through the Black Forest region a couple of times. It is pretty, but not exactly knock dead gorgeous like the Swiss or Austrian Alps. That is where I would prefer to spend all of my time since it so close--rather than seeing Basil, Germany/France.
