Basel ( or Basle ) Switzerland - have you been ?

Hello,
We're taking a train from Amsterdam to Basel CH and then to the Lauterbrunnen Valley region. Is Basel worth a night's stay ? Would love to read your opinion about this town if you've experienced it for yourself.

Thanks,
~Mitzi

We enjoyed a day and a half before a river cruise. Enjoyed walking around, Basel Minster, the Paper Museum and the art museum (Kunstmuseum).

As long as it's not a Sunday, when most businesses are closed. Businesses and stores also close early Saturday afternoon.
Have a great trip!

Basel is lovely, very colorful, don't miss the cathedral and Rathuis/town square. We walked the opposite side of the river from the cathedral/town center. Basel has an excellent TI, check the website, there are self guided walking tours and other recommendations. Will you be visiting Luzern/Lucerne. Its a beautiful little city surrounded my a lake and mountains.

you and the triplets may enjoy a ride across the river on the chain ferry. Very cool. The triplets may enjoy floating in the river with a wickelfisch https://en.wickelfisch.ch/ even cooler and even more fun (pack a suit).

If you stay overnight the local transport, including the super cool little trams which handily take you up the hill if your legs are tired - are free with the reservation and pass given by the hotel.

Plenty to do - some mentioned above, also the children's museum and several others. The Design Museum, just into Germany also excellent.

So, worth a night's stay - a big thumbs up from me.

All such great input ~ thank you so much, everyone!

Nigel - unfortunately, the triplets will be on their own life journeys sans Mom & Dad so it will just be my husband and I this time in Europe. Probably from now on.
I'm not crying. You're crying. :*(
