Basel is one of those cities that Rick Steves doesn’t mention in his Switzerland guidebooks. You might try booking.com for hotels in Basel to see what is available in your desired location and price range.

Motel One is right in the middle of things, a bit business focused, but it was clean, friendly and very convenient.
