Is it best to take tow ATM debit cards to Europe from different banks in case you have trouble with one bank card or it is eaten by a machine?
We do,although we have never had one "eaten by a machine" in Europe.
The first time we went to Switzerland my husband had his card set to withdraw from his savings account rather than checking, so it would not work. Good thing I brought mine!
Sorry I meant "two" different debit cards from two different banks not "tow"! Were you debit cards issued against different banks?
Thanks for your reply.
I take my "travel" CU card with no foreign transaction fees. I have my regular bank card (3% foreign transaction fee plus $3 non-network fee) as an emergency back-up. Another thing about European ATM's is they spit the card out first before dispensing the cash. Less chance of you forgetting the card in the machine.
