We are taking the Cruise from Amsterdam to Basel. From Basel we are going to Hotel at Zurich Airport. Suggestions on how to get from Cruise to Basel Train Station. Also should we pre- purchase a one way train ticket from Basel to Zurich Airport?

Taxi. Make sure you know the right train station, there are more than one. No need to purchase in advance.

Basel Bad Bahnhof is the WRONG station, so just indicate the Basel SBB station (main station). Its on the south side of the Rhine. As previously mentioned, the trains to Zurich airport or anywhere in Switzerland are not generally discounted. They run about every 15 minutes or so, but the ones at 40 past the hour go direct to the airport without changing at Zurich Hauptbahnhof.

Basel is an interesting city if you have time. Consider seeing the Rathaus/Town-hall on Marktplatz. Also the Gate of Spalen is a 14th century entrance gate to the old city that is quite spectacular.
