Assistance with Transportation Mode Munchen>Murren>BlackForest>Munchen

Hi, My family (2 adults, 3 children, all <13) will be departing from Munchen to go to Switzerland for 5 days, and then head to Black Forest for 3 days prior to returning to Munchen. ( we must start and end at Munchen due to my work at the university over the summer). Here is our current Itinerary:

Munchen>Lucern, 2 nights in Lucern
Lucern>Murren 3 nights in Murren
Murren>Black Forest, 3 nights
Black Forest> Munchen

What is the best way for us to travel? The Swiss Pass with kids free pass seems to be the best option from a $$ point of view, but the travel options from Munich to Lucern/Murren are not great, same heading from Murren/Lucern back up to the Black Forest. Should we take a train Munchen>Luzern? The times are lengthy, and most options are on a bus that takes longer than driving. (there are train options, but the kids and 6am train departure is not a recipe for enjoyable trip).

And then return trip, should we train to Basel and then rent a car in Germany to drive to Black Forest? Are there car rental locations in Basel that are on the German side of the border?

Thank you for your input!

Why don't you drive; otherwise the reality is that you would have to Take the train or Flixbus to Zurich and then a train to Luzern.
Then a train from Luzern to Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen then a gondola to Grutschalp and then a train to Murren.

Starting from Mar 23 there will be extensive construction work on the Munich - Lindau line all the year round, so taking the train may be tedious for many travel dates (detours, substitue buses etc.). I'd take the IC bus to Zürich and then transfer to the train. When you rent a car please note that you need a motorway vignette both for Austria and Switzerland, available at the respective border stations. (Lindau/Hörbranz, Lustenau/Au).
