Hi I am traveling for the first time alone to Geneva I arrived late June. I was thinking to visti Lausanne, then Lucerne, Interlaken, Montreux, Villenueve, Annecy, and go back to Geneva. Can you please give me suggestions of places to stay and tours available. Also, if it is possible what will be the best way to get around. Thank you.
Perhaps you will find helpful suggestions in the link above. This is a frequent topic here.
The train system in Switzerland is efficient and user- friendly. Download the SBB app and plug in proposed itineraries. That's the best way to travel in this beautiful country!
The Swiss Travel Pass is on sale thru May 14.
Have a great trip!
From Interlacken you need to head into the Berner Oberland, the most beautiful part of Switzerland. Stay in one and visit the others- Grindelwald, Wengen, Murren. The Swiss trains are excellent.
No need to stay in Lausanne AND Montreux. Pick one and visit the other.
Do NOT stay in Interlaken, stay up the valley as mentioned by Suki in one of the villages. You will actually be IN the mountains where the hiking, lifts, and superb scenery are.
By all means, take trains.
Overall, it sounds like you need a good guidebook to figure out what you would like to do in each location. I suggest borrowing the Rick Steves Switzerland guide form your library or buying it for ongoing reference. His book describes transportation, what to do in most of your desired locations, and more things you have not even thought of yet.
