I've finally got my itinerary planned out. Wondering if anyone stayed at either Haus Lydia or Gastezimmer Koller-Rempfler while in Appenzell. Both places look cute and the cash price is certainly appealing!!! Husband and I are travelling by train ( We will both have a carry on size bag so our luggage wont be too difficult) so I'm wondering how hard/easy it was to get to and how was the stay, breakfast etc?? Thanks much!
I stayed two nights solo at Haus Lydia a year ago and I really had a great time. She is wonderful and cares for her guests. The haus have good rooms and confortable beds. The walk to downtown is fun and pintoresque but it takes about 15-20 mins. There is a tram stop nearby before the main station and I recommend you stop there instead of going and returning.
It is countryside, so, sometimes you have to walk through soil, so, don't wear your best shoes as you can step on mud, specially on wet days.
Breakfast was great. I will go again with no doubt. It might be a little further from downtown but the value/benefit is excellent.
I booked the room. Thanks for your help!
