Apartment or House in Lauterbrunnen or Mürren

I've been searching sites like Airbnb for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath (1 bath is doable if a 2 bath isn't available) place in preferably Lauterbrunnen from September 25-29, 2020. I'm focusing more on Lauterbrunnen because we will have a car. We are two couples traveling together. I'm not coming up with much. I would prefer to keep the price under 300 Swiss francs per night, but could go up a bit from that if the right place comes along. If anyone has any suggested websites I could use for the area, or personal knowledge of a specific place, I would love to know about them. Thanks so much!

I used VRBO. We did stay in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, a couple miles from the village. I had a one bedroom, so that wouldn't be of help to you

EDITED TO ADD: I can't speak to other options, but if you stay in Lauterbrunnen Valley, there's a decent chance you wouldn't have to pay to park, if that matters.

I don’t think you should limit yourself to Lauterbrunnen just because you have a car. You’ll be visiting Murren and Wengen anyway while you’re there (hopefully) so if you visit you may as well be open to accommodations while you’re there.

And your budget is too low for a 2 BR 2BA accommodation.

We shared this apartment in Mürren with our son and his family and loved it:

This is the TripAdvisor listing but it is also listed on Airbnb. It is 3 bedrooms ( one with bunk beds and two with queen beds) and two large bathrooms. The kitchen is very modern and well-equipped. The location is at the far end of the village, with wonderful views. The Allmendhubel funicular is close by and fun to see. The Coop grocery is on the street below and there is a footpath down.

Wow, thanks for your quick responses. We won't limit ourselves to Lauterbrunnen. I know we might have to make concessions. If we have to spend a little more I guess that's what it will take. This is part of an 8+ week trip for us, so I am being mindful of the costs. I was also looking into camping. I know there's at least one campground that rents out cabins and RVs in Lauterbrunnen. We RV with the friends we are traveling with and would be more than happy to do that. It looks like they have a 7 night minimum though. If anyone has other information about any campgrounds I would be very interested in hearing about it.

Lola, the place you stayed is great. Thanks for sharing. I will definitely keep it in mind.

I can’t speak on the details of the Lauterbrunnen campground as I have never stayed there, however, I have hiked through the campground many times and can confirm they have cabins and RV sites, and the campground sure would seem to be a nice place to home base. Regarding AirBNB’s, I suggest you extend your search into Wengen. We have stayed in AirBNB’s there several times and find the volume of rentals there far exceed other towns in the valley.

I have stayed at that campground and liked it and that would be my first choice for you. You could get 2 trailers or bungalows next to each other, or get a bigger one together. It's within your price range. Check them out at www.campingjungfrau.swiss

Another place that is older (and therefore budget) is www.hornerflat.ch
It is near the Lauterbrunnen church.

Finally, if you will do any hiking, click on my name to find the link to our dozen favorite trails.

The issue with Camping Jungfrau for the OP is that the sweet little bungalows, as well as the caravans and mobile homes, all have a 7-day minimum stay requirement in high season ( includng all of September).

Only the tiny cabins can be rented by the night. And these are sleeping space only ( I am picturing two sets of bunk beds). There is a communal kitchen for cooking, and guests use the toilets and showers in the campground. I don't know how Andrea feels about that, but the only place I will accept a room like that is at the Yosemite High Sierra Camps!

Shoe, thank you. I think I learned about the camping from one of your posts and have saved the hikes you have mentioned. Lola is correct that I am well past the time of my life where I want to rough it. I might be able to maneuver the schedule to give us a week there, but I'm not sure it's the right thing to do. I'll discuss it with our friends. We do have some flexibility since I haven't booked anything yet. There is a mobile home available to rent at the campground that would suit our purposes. It only has one bath, but I assume the campground bathroom would also be available to us.

Lola is technically correct about the 7 night stay for the bungalows and trailers (both of which have cooking facilities). However, I know people who were able to negotiate for half that during times that the campground was not too busy, and I think Sept. might qualify. It's certainly worth an inquiry if you are interested.

We stayed at Chalet Anemone 2 in Mürren this past May. It had 2 bathrooms (one was just a toilet and sink) and would sleep 4 people. It was an easy walk to the Coop grocery and Schilthornbahn.

Thanks again everyone. We've had to do a bit of tweaking to our itinerary, and I was able to carve out 7 nights in the B.O. I think we're going to go for camping in the mobile home in Lauterbrunnen. I appreciate all the advice.

You won't regret 7 days. We've been there for 2 weeks and didn't run out of things to do.
Furthermore, my rule of thumb for the area is: 1/3 of your days will be overcast or rainy, another third will be iffy (maybe a sunny morning with thunderstorm after lunch), and another third will be sunny and great. So you will appreciate the extra time.
