Are there any problems in buying train tickets on sbb.ch? I'm asking because I vaguely recall a post from someone saying that their credit card transaction went through but they didn't receive the e-tickets. My understanding is that supersaver tickets become available a month in advance. Is it also possible to buy tickets over the phone?
I have bought supersaver tickets while in Switz using the sbb.ch phone app. The QR symbol that the conductor scans shows up on the phone.
Relatedly, I do recall having a problem buying tickets with a credit card, but when I changed to my debit card, the transaction went thru.
Over the phone? Maybe if you download their app on your smartphone.

I used both the app and the website on my phone to buy tickets last week. No problem using my credit card. (I was in Switzerland at the time but that shouldn't matter.)
The tickets bought on the app showed up in the app (they were available offline) and the ones bought on the websites were received via email.
In one instance the conducter had trouble reading one of my tickets but she said the problem was her reader and not on my end.
Don't wait too long to buy supersaver tickets as they don't last forever.

I don't know the particulars of your situation. But a trick I've learned from Amtrak, which I now use for all scanning of bar codes from my phone: turn your phone up to the brightest setting, and the machines find it much easier to read the code.
You are correct on an early posting that someone had issues with sbb.ch online purchases with their credit card, but had not issues using the App. I wrote the info down on my notes for my Switzerland trip in May 2019.
Enjoy your trip.
I have bought supersaver tickets for other countries, but I thought that different threads on this forum stated that there aren't any for travel on Swiss trains. I am going to Switzerland in Sept., and thought that I would just need to figure out if I want a SP or half price card. Is there actually a price difference purchasing in advance?
Diane, There are some supersaver tickets on some trains. But is is not like other countries where all tickets start cheap and go up.
Supersaver tickets are only available for less popular trains, not for the busy ones. They are only available online and only on the SBB website. They are only valid on the one train listed, unlike normal tickets which are valid on any train on the date listed
Supersaver tickets are cheaper if you have a Half Price Card.
There is no price advantage in buying normal tickets in advance on the SBB website as the price is fixed, it just saves time at the station.

Thank you for your information Chris. I will check it out and see if it’s anything that will work out for me.

Huh? Last July I bought all supersaver tickets on these routes:
Zurich to Luzern.
Luzern to Interlaken.
Interlaken to Bern
Bern to Lausanne (this route was really crowded no one checked tickets)
Thanks everyone for your replies! My understanding is that supersaver tickets are available one month in advance, don't know if that is correct.

That is correct. Be ready they sell out quick
For example
Instead of 30 CHF I paid 15CHF Zurich to Luzern.
But you have to take the specific train and time. There is not flexibility.
(But if you have the Half Fare Card it would be just 7.50CHF)
