I’m taking a river cruise starting in Amsterdam. How difficult is it to get to Bruges? Any suggestions on reasonable hotels in Amsterdam?
It's a 3-4 hour train ride from Amsterdam to Bruges - maybe 2 1/2 if you use Eurostar.
You might get more replies if you post in General Europe or Netherlands sub forum.
Check out Cameron's Blog on Amsterdam, he was just there. He reported average hotel costs around $400. Also look on booking.com
Safe travels!
I've all the places we've been to in Europe, Amsterdam was the hardest to find a hotel that we felt was reasonable. We ended up staying in Haarlem which is lovely. We had stayed in Amsterdam about 5 or so years ago at a small hotel we loved for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, they remodeled and are quite a bit more expensive.
We've twice stayed at the Banks Mansion hotel in Amsterdam. Right on a canal, lovely views, walkable to everything, but there is a tram too if required.
Everything is expensive there, and this would be considered four star and a mid-range price. We paid extra for a canal view. Breakfast is amazing, everything cooked to order, and each evening there is free wine and cheese, plus an all day bar.
Probably best asked in the Netherlands section of the forum.
