We will be traveling to Switzerland in September, with stays in Murren, Pontresina, Zermatt, Vevey and Lucerne. My husband is really wants to do the Jungfraujoch to take the walk on the glacier to Monkschutte, and to go through the ice cave. To me the rest of the trip sounds so touristy and expensive (even with Swiss Travel Pass) and I am not sure it's worth the time and cost. Is there a good alternative where 65 year olds who walk a lot but aren't adventurous hikers can get the glacier walk/ice cave experience without all the commercialism of the Jungfraujoch trip? Is Jungfraujoch our best bet?
When we traveled up there it wasn’t touristy just cold!
Matterhorn Glacier Paradise in Zermatt, since you are going there anyway.

There is an ice cave in Titlus, which is an easy day trip from Lucerne.
Titlus has the suspension bridge over the ravine, has the altitude, and isn't so touristy.
If you really want to hike on a glacier, there is this guided trek from Fiescheralp:

This blog describes the experience, with photos:
Titlis would be my vote. It has better views more bang for your buck. The ice cave on Jungfrau was forgettable; the trip up there is not worth the price.
