Alpenblick Murren vs. Hotel Edelweiss in Wengen?

I am torn between Murren Alpenblick hotel vs. Hotel Edelweiss in Wengen.

anybody have experiences staying at these hotels?
I created a separate topic on this forum, inquiring about construction in Murren, so I am not sure how intrusive that situation is..
thank you for your input...

Comparing hotels is secondary to deciding whether you want to stay in Murren or Wengen, as they are different vibes and locations. Wengen is slightly more convenient to day trips & has more restaurants and hotels, while Murren has better views, hiking & authentic Swiss village feel. I gave you my opinion of Alpenblick in your other post. Edelweiss is slightly downhill in Wengen, so if you want less uphill/downhill walking to your lodging from the train station, Alpenblick will have less of that than Edelweiss.

Thank you Wanderweg..
After going back and forth.. finally chose Wengen Hotel Edelweis..
Little better pricing.. and better rating (at least at Booking.com)..
and Wengen vs. Murren was such a toss up, and everything being equal, construction issue kinda tilted me toward Wengen..

Hi, Ekblckbrn
Yes, we are staying 6 days there - usual stuff like Jungflauvoch, Schilthorn, hiking, Harder Kulm, more hiking etc.. honestly, I don't think 6 days are enough.. LOL

And Hi Biwang
I believe Hotel Edelweiss is facing village..I booked it via Booking and it was the last room available for my date.. so I didn't have much choice in the rooms.. I did send the message to the property asking if I have balcony..I'm still awaiting response..

BTW, anybody know if I can upgrade at the check in if I don't like the view??
Would they allow that knowing I paid everything upfront via Booking..

Gene, I have found that many of these hotels are fully booked upon arrival, so upgrading rooms may not be possible. This was my experience and I always regretted not booking the more expensive better- view room.
Youusually get a better price booking direct. Perhaps email their own website and inquire.
Have a great trip.
