Advise common location between Rheinfalls, Blackforest, Fussen, Konigsee

Dear all,

As part of my Europe Trip, I am planning to visit Paris, Switzerland and later from Switzerland (Lucerne) I want to go to the following four places but unable to figure out best common place to make as “base” location for economical accommodation (hotels similar to IBIS Budget hotels) so as to cover all these four places within best reach of train stations (got Euro pass).

  1. Rhein falls

  2. Black Forest (Schwarzwald, Triberg waterfalls, Titisee Lake)

  3. Neuschwanstein castle (Fuessen)

  4. Schönau am Königsee

Then proceed to Salzburg, Halstatt as part of my Austria trip

Please advise best common and nearest base location for above four locations and also will 3 nights – 4days of stay will suffice as I need to proceed to Austria from there.

These four locations are too far apart to see from one central location. You could do Neuschwanstein and Konigsee as day trips from Munich but you are talking an 8 hour train trip to Rheinfels from Munich and 5 hours (give or take) to see any one of the things you mentioned in the Black Forest. You should consider dropping Rheinfels from your itinerary because is too far out of the way of everything else you have mentioned. You could consider visiting the Black Forest area after you leave Lucerne, then going to Munich as your central base for the other sights.

Hi Chris, many thanks for your immediate help. Really appreciate your suggestions. In this scenario shall I make some other point as base to cover Rhein falls and Black forest n then move to Munich and cover Neuschwanstein castle (Fuessen) and Schönau am Königsee and finally proceed to Salzburg??

Rheinfall, near Schaffhausen, is 2 hours by train from Luzern, during that part of your trip. There are other, similarly named places, since the Rhein is a long river.
