I am thinking of extending my Switzerland visit for about 5 days when my tour is ending in Lucerne in 2 months. The tour can drop us off in Zurich where I have a direct flight booked. I am tempted by previous RickSteves’ posts to visit Vevey for 2-3 days, then go to Zurich for 2-3 days, before boarding my plane flight back home. The train map seems to show Lucerne closer to Vevey, than Zurich to Vevey, unless Zurich to Vevey is more convenient for times and frequency. Thank you for advising if visiting Vevey is a good idea vs. staying in Zurich; if so what is the best website to look up & book tickets? I cannot seem a find a website for my 3 city itinerary, unless I need to do 2 cities at a time?

They’re almost exactly the same. Luzern to Vevey is 2 hr 26 min with 1 train change. Zurich to Vevey to 2 hr 30 min with 1 train change. See SBB.ch/en for times and routes.
