Hello - We will be traveling from Lake Como to Munich thru Switzerland September time. Our thought was to use Zermatt 2 nights then Lucerne 3 nights as bases. We definitely want to visit Interlaken/Lauterbrunnen/Grindewald in between the 2. Will this strategy work? Any recommendations? We will have a car. We will visit Alpenzall on way out back to Germany. Thank you - so much to see and so confusing!
Make sure you pick up your car in Switzerland to avoid a large drop charge. Interlacken is a transit hub so don’t spend time there. Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald are beautiful.
I would base in Wengen or Murren and visit Lucerne from there as a day trip, if you even want to leave the mountains. Park in the garage behind the train station in Lauterbrunnen. Skip Interlaken.
Zermatt, Luzern, Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald & Appenzell all while transitioning from Como to Munich in 5 days is unrealistic, you’d just spend most of your time traveling.
Pick 2 spots on your list and actually enjoy them. Zermatt + Luzern would give you a mix of city and mountains.
thank you for all the responses so far!
