Hi there, We will be flying out of Zurich and are looking for one night accommodation near Lucerne (we are coming from Venice that day, via car). Does anyone have any recommendations for accommodations NEAR Lucerne that may not break the bank for a family of 5? I am very much open to non-traditional accommodations--farm house, pension, zimmer frie, or gastehaus are all good (and usually more economical, and can usually accommodate a family of 5). We are not too picky, since it's only for a night...as long as it is clean. :-)

Look at Hotel Alpha on booking.com-very reasonable-10 min walk from train station
-clean, safe and breakfast included. You would need two rooms. We had an enjoyable
stay there in the low 100's a summer or two back-great location and staff.

This guesthouse in Fluelen (down the lake, 38 miles from the Zurich airport) has a family room that sleeps 5; Bookimg.com says it is $235.

To help with Travel Man's spelling - for the benefit of people trying to find what he is talking about, the place he mentions is Gasthaus zum Kreuz in Meggen. I bet it is from trying to read gothic script....
