We (hopefully, Delta virus EU restrictions may cancel this trip) will be entering Switzerland on September 11. We plan to spend 7 days there before boarding our river cruise in Basel. It has been 51 years since we toured Switzerland on our honeymoon. We plan on flying into Geneva and taking the train to Lausanne. The next two overnight stops will be Lauterbrunnen and Luzon. We would like to find accommodations with a private bath within a short walk of the train station. Has anyone stayed in these spots recently?
Hi,
Sorry, I'm a little bit confused: close to the train station in which place? Lauterbrunnen is a small village and the train station is very central. The station is also very central in Luzern, most hotels are quite close to it (15 minute walk at most). Lausanne is more difficult (it's built on a huge slope) and I question why you would stay there rather than in Vevey or Montreux, unless you have some specific interest in Lausanne museums.
Lauterbrunnen-Hotel Silberhorn or Oberland-5 min walk from train station
Take the cable car up to Murren (right at train station) and enjoy the easy downhill
walk to Gimmelwald
Luzern-Alstadt Hotel Krone Luzern-10 min walk from train station in Old Town
Luzern- Hotel des Alpes, just across the river from the train station and next to chapel bridge. Lovely location and views.
Yes, Hotel Des Alpes in Luzern.
Luzern--Ameron Luzern Hotel Flora........two blocks from the train station, one block to the chapel bridge. I've stayed there twice. Excellent location. Nice breakfast.
There's an Ibis next to the station in Basel I've stayed at.
